Annual Inspection and Review Schedule

Document FSSMS-AUD-03Stage 1Revision 5Version 0.3.3

Topic pages open on your jurisdiction, and requirements tables show its line. You can change this on any page.

1. Purpose

One table of everything the department inspects, tests, services, reviews or renews on a cycle: the interval, who does it, who is qualified to do it, the standard it is done against, the record it leaves and the month it falls in. The schedule is the backbone of the Monitoring category of the audit and the source of half the rows in the Corrective Action Register. If an item is not on this table, nobody owns its cycle.

The intervals are the package’s own, set at or inside what the standards and the applicable provincial or territorial regulations require. Confirm each standard’s clause against the current edition; the interval applies either way. Each program module carries the detailed checksheet for its rows; this note is the master calendar. The applicable OHS regulation sets how often tools and equipment must be inspected and by whom, and how long the records are kept (J15 Equipment Inspection, Ladders and Aerial Devices). This schedule has equipment inspected by its user before each use and by a competent person at least annually, keeps the records five years (05 Document Control and Records), and sets several rows more often than that because the standard or the hazard demands it.

2. How to read the table

  • Interval: how often. “After use” means after every use or exposure. “Annual” means within 12 months of the last.
  • Done by: the role that performs it. Qualified: the competence required, so that “done by the crew” never means “done by whoever was free”.
  • Standard: the edition and clause.
  • Record: where the evidence lives ({{Records system}} unless stated).
  • Month: default month for annual and less frequent items in an April to March fiscal year; shift with 04 Annual Program Cycle and Calendar.
  • Stage: the stage at which the row becomes required.
